Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – Website Presentation & Review Meetings

Q1: Can we record the website presentation and review meetings?
A1: Please do not record the competition process.

Q2: Do we need to prepare a PowerPoint for the meeting?
A2: No. Open your website directly on the classroom computer and use F12 to switch to mobile view for the judges.

Q3: Should we show the desktop version or mobile version of the website?
A3: Only the mobile version. The “desktop-friendliness” evaluation has been removed; only mobile-friendliness is scored.

Q4: How do we show the mobile version on a computer?
A4: Use the browser’s built-in mobile simulation feature.

Q5: Do we need to display both Chinese and English versions?
A5: Yes, both must be shown.

Q6: How should we report during the meeting?

A6:

  • Each unit has 5 minutes.

  • Key points to cover:

  1. Target audience:

    • Briefly mention the target audience.

    • Although most teaching units target students, each department’s website content is unique.

    • Judges need to know the target audience to anticipate what content should appear.

    • Common audiences: current students, faculty & staff, prospective students, industry partners. (Current students include international students.)

  2. Website purpose:

    • One sentence: “Allow the target audience to access the required information in both Chinese and English.”

  3. Main content:

    • Explain site structure, homepage planning, and available information while demonstrating on the website.

    • Test the mobile version in advance to avoid display issues (especially tables and embedded videos).

Q7: What questions do judges usually ask?
A7: Common past questions:

  • “As an [audience], I need [specific info], but I can’t find it.”

  • Image-related: proportions changed or text overlaid on faces.

  • Mobile viewing issues: tables misaligned or embedded YouTube videos exceeding screen width.

Q8: Why is the website presentation only worth 70%?
A8: The remaining 30% comes from the post-review website inspection.

Q9: Can we change the presenter at the last minute?
A9: Yes, but please notify the substitute in advance.

Q10: How to present mobile view on a classroom computer?
A10: Press F12 to switch.

Q13: Can we bring a presentation clicker?
A13: Yes.

  • YT followers: ____

  • Any platform >500 followers

  • Any platform >1000 followers
    Include screenshots. Judges will verify.

Q17: If a unit does not have social media, can we skip the bonus section?
A17: Yes, social media bonus will be 0%.

Q18: What is the maximum score for the competition?
A18: Website presentation & review: 70%, post-review inspection: 30%, total 100%; social media bonus: 10%, total 110%.

Q19: Is there a year limit for social media post likes?
A19: No. Any post counts. Year restrictions may apply in future competitions.

Q20: Why do some website links redirect to the main campus homepage?
A20: For security reasons, if the backend data has been reclassified but URLs were not updated, or original data was removed without removing URLs, the system will redirect broken links to the campus homepage.

  • Once the website is updated with valid bilingual content, it will display correctly.

  • Ensure both Chinese and English pages are created and active.
