112/05/25 Web Page Layout Design, Marketing, and Analysis Training – Concepts of Interface Design
We were honored to have Professor Sun Ming-Yuan from Ming Design Studio lead the Web Page Layout Design, Marketing, and Analysis Training – Concepts of Interface Design (Basic Course). Today’s session covered what an interface is, examples from daily life, theoretical definitions, and the interface design process, helping faculty, staff, and students gain a deeper understanding of interface design concepts.
The course began with an opening speech and introduction to campus web page matters by Professor Lin Yi-Nan, Director of the Office of Library and Information Services. Participants included website administrators of all units as well as faculty, staff, and students. Professor Sun Ming-Yuan explained the differences between UI (User Interface) and UX (User Experience). The course highlighted that both broad and narrow definitions of interfaces are critical, as interfaces are the first point of interaction with users.
For example, consider two microwaves: one with only two interface options (using a dial for power and time) and another with 28 options (buttons for detailed cooking settings for different foods). The design of these interfaces significantly impacts user convenience—a key consideration in web page layout design.
