Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies like ChatGPT are taking the world by storm. Recently, the Office of Library and Information Services, Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT), organized a training course on effectively using ChatGPT to enhance work efficiency. The training featured expert Mr. Ricky Yen, who demonstrated using ChatGPT for tasks such as copywriting, presentation creation, short video production, etc. Mr. Ricky Yen, the Director of Marketing at Natco Creative Inc., specializes in marketing event planning and social media marketing. He also serves as a brand management consultant and has extensive experience assisting over a hundred SMEs with digital transformation, including in the Dihua Street, Tianmu, and Hsinchu East Gate shopping districts. Mr. Yen is also a lecturer at Shih Chien University’s Department of Information Management and a corporate trainer for well-known companies, running a Thai language learning community and authoring the book "Thai Premium Goods Wholesale."
Over 110 faculty, staff, and students participated in the two sessions of this training course. The top executives also recognize the importance of ChatGPT. President Thu-hua Liu, Secretary General Henry Chou, and Provost Feng-jui Liu attended the course. The application of ChatGPT has dramatically enhanced the efficiency and diversity of campus administrative tasks. The course began with the instructor sharing practical experiences in social media optimization, photography, video production, brand revitalization, and integrated marketing, highlighting the importance and practicality of mastering ChatGPT. AI-generated content is created by machine learning models that analyze historical data and use deep learning techniques to produce new outputs, including copywriting, images, videos, and music.
During the course, participants learned how to integrate ChatGPT with the Internet of Things (IoT) devices and utilize social media and web platforms to implement Call to Action (CTA) strategies. The course introduced techniques for crafting effective ChatGPT prompts, including treating the AI as if conversing with someone, clearly stating your needs, defining roles upfront, outlining directions, adding context, following up with further questions, and continuously verifying information. Social media managers and web administrators can draft content themes when publishing articles, for example, by asking ChatGPT, "What are your thoughts on the recent school admissions?" Alternatively, they can use usage scenarios as thematic applications for product promotion, with prompts like "Provide five different usage scenarios for [product name]." By gradually delving into the content, participants could generate themes, copywriting, and Q&A responses, gaining a wide range of creative sources.
The training also covered how ChatGPT simplifies marketing tasks by generating diverse creative sources, producing large amounts of marketing copywriting, and creating content for different marketing channels. Through hands-on practice, participants learned to write and optimize complete marketing presentations and combine ChatGPT with video editing software to produce videos quickly. The course also provided basic Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for practical use, integrating the learned AI copywriting and AI presentation creation into AI short video production.
This training on effectively using ChatGPT to improve work efficiency provided participants with practical exercises and valuable insights, enhancing their professional knowledge and skills. Additionally, MCUT’s academic resources, including its Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Bachelor's Program in Industrial Artificial Intelligence, and Bachelor's Degree Program in Semiconductor Materials and Fabrication, along with the library’s AI book collection—such as "The Complete Guide to ChatGPT Commands and Innovative Applications," "Led by ChatGPT," "A Super Illustrated Guide to AI: The First Book on Artificial Intelligence," and "The Age of AI Generation"—offer students more opportunities for in-depth AI learning and research.
