Dear teachers, colleagues, and students,

Grip strength reflects muscle power and is an essential method for detecting sarcopenia.

Low grip strength indicates a higher risk of sarcopenia and may imply decreased motor function.

During physical activity, the body releases the hormone irisin, which travels to the brain to prevent hippocampal degeneration.

Research has shown that patients with dementia have lower levels of irisin in their bodies.

Therefore, low grip strength not only indicates potential sarcopenia but also an increased risk of dementia.

Maintaining regular exercise enhances muscle strength and cognitive function.
