3/1 Fundamentals of Successful Social Media Management – Building and Promoting an IG Admissions Brand

We were honored to have Teacher Cai Yaqi (漂漂老師) lead the course, connecting knowledge from the social media video lessons to practical community management skills. The first day of the workshop covered essential topics such as post dimensions and ratios, creating eye-catching Instagram Stories using smartphones, planning posts to drive traffic, writing effective hashtags, and group discussions for hands-on exercises. These activities provided faculty, staff, and students—both in-person and online participants—with a stronger understanding of social media content creation and traffic-driving strategies.

The workshop was attended by social media managers from various departments, students from Professor Sun Lifang’s Digital Marketing Design class, students from the Visual Communication Design department, and other interested faculty and students. Teacher Cai began by introducing Taiwan’s mainstream social media platforms and engaging participants to identify target audiences. She emphasized that to reach specific users, one must manage the appropriate platform: Facebook caters to older audiences and long-form posts, Instagram focuses on hashtags (#) and single-image posts, and YouTube emphasizes videos targeting younger audiences. Understanding platform characteristics and audience demographics is crucial for effectively promoting content.
