【Intellectual Property Advocacy】Creative Commons (CC)
Creative Commons (CC)
Before the advent of Creative Commons (CC), creative works could only be licensed under two extremes: "All Rights Reserved" or "No Rights Reserved." This hindered the circulation of creativity and increased the risk of misuse. Creative Commons introduced the concept of "Some Rights Reserved," allowing creators to share their work and protect their rights through six licensing combinations. This framework promotes societal progress and well-being.
Attribution
Users must give appropriate credit to the author or licensor in the manner specified, but not in a way that suggests they endorse you or your use of the work.
Noncommercial
The work may not be used for commercial purposes.
No Derivatives
The work may not be altered, transformed, or built upon.
Share Alike
If the work is altered, transformed, or built upon, any resulting derivative works must be distributed under the same or similar license terms as the original.
Four Licensing Elements Combine to Form Six License Types:
Attribution
Attribution-No Derivatives
Attribution-Share Alike
Attribution-Noncommercial
Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivatives
Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike
