1. Paper Thesis Embargo Application

• Students who take their oral defense on or after August 1, 2025 and wish to apply for a paper thesis embargo must use the updated “Embargo Application Form” (the new form will be announced soon).
• The application must be submitted before the oral defense, and the defense committee will review during the defense whether the thesis involves confidential, patent-related, or legally restricted content.
• This policy applies only to paper thesis embargo requests and is handled separately from electronic full-text authorization.

2. Electronic Full-Text Authorization (PDF)

• The electronic full-text authorization process remains unchanged.
• If the electronic full text of the thesis will be publicly available within 5 years (including immediate release), students must select the public release date from a dropdown menu when uploading to the National Library system and sign the authorization form with their advisor.
• No additional review or paperwork is required.
