[60 Seconds on Health] Two Ways to Relieve Autonomic Nervous System Imbalance
Forward - Formosa Plastics Group, Medical Development Center - "Doctors Talk Health" Short Videos
Dear teachers, colleagues, and students,
The autonomic nervous system (ANS) includes the sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves and is influenced by emotions, feelings, and sensory input.
If ANS imbalance persists long-term, it may disrupt the immune system. Here are two main ways to relieve autonomic nervous system imbalance:
-
If the sympathetic nervous system is overactive: Practice stress relief and relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, and taking adequate rest. Avoid carrying stress into the evening, as it can affect sleep.
-
If the parasympathetic nervous system is dominant: Engage in moderate daytime exercise and go to bed early. Exercise improves sleep quality at night, which helps restore energy during the day.
