Interlibrary Document Copying (Interlibrary Cooperation)
When you cannot obtain the documents you need through the following channels:
- Our library catalog (for searching print books, journals, reference books, audio-visual materials, theses, university publications, etc.);
- Electronic resources search (for searching databases, e-books, etc., subscribed to or freely available through our library).
You can obtain the required documents through the following methods:
Journal Articles
- Search the "National Union Catalog of Serials" to check if any library in Taiwan holds the specific journal issue you need (please note that even if a library holds the journal, it may not hold the specific issue you need). Original link: https://sticnet.stpi.narl.org.tw/sticweb/html/illmenu.htm
- Search the "CONCERT Union Catalog of Electronic Journals" to see which databases include the journal and which libraries in Taiwan subscribe to those databases (please note whether the database includes the issue you need).
- After confirming the journal article you need is held by a certain library, you can:
- Visit the library in person to photocopy the journal article. Please bring identification (varies by library policy).
- Use the "National Document Delivery Service System" to request the library to photocopy the document and collect it at our library; a photocopying fee of about 3-6 NTD per page applies. Please first register for an account and then fill out the document photocopy request form.
- Free library cooperation services between the Chemistry Center Library of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Department of Chemistry Library of National Taiwan University (chemical engineering and related fields).
Conference Papers and Research Reports
- For domestic conference papers, search the "Academic Conference Papers Abstracts Database" for papers presented at academic conferences in Taiwan after 1991.
- For international conference papers, use the "OCLC FirstSearch" database, specifically the "PaperFirst" (for abstracts of single conference papers since 1993) and "ProceedingsFirst" (for conference proceedings abstracts since 1993).
- For research reports funded by the National Science Council, search the "NSC Research Report Database" for project reports submitted after 2002.
- Confirm which libraries hold the conference papers/research reports through the union catalog.
- After confirming the conference paper/research report is held by a certain library, you can:

- If you are unsure which libraries in Taiwan hold the conference paper/research report, you can use the "National Document Delivery Service System" to request document copying from the "STPI National Research Institute of Science and Technology Policy Research and Information Center." Please first register for an account and then fill out the document photocopy request form.
Theses
- For domestic theses (master's and doctoral), search the "National Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations in Taiwan," which provides electronic full-text for some theses. If not available, check the "NTL Holdings" to see if the National Central Library (and its branches) holds the thesis.
- For theses from the US and Canada (doctoral), search the "ProQuest Dissertations & Theses (PQDT)" database. After confirming, check the "Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations" to see if the full-text is available. If available, you can obtain the full text. - If the full-text of the thesis you need is not available, you can:
- For domestic theses:
- Theses are held by the graduate student's institution and the National Central Library (some are held by branches). You can visit the library in person to photocopy the thesis.
- You can also use the "National Document Delivery Service System" to request the library to photocopy the document and collect it at our library; a photocopying fee of about 3-6 NTD per page applies, and copyright restrictions on photocopying must be followed. Please first register for an account and then fill out the document photocopy request form.
- For international theses:
- Use the "National Document Delivery Service System" to request document copying from the "STPI National Research Institute of Science and Technology Policy Research and Information Center." Please first register for an account and then fill out the document photocopy request form.
- For domestic theses:
Patents
- For international patents, search the respective patent office databases of various countries and refer to the related website links provided by the Intellectual Property Office, Ministry of Economic Affairs.
- If the patent bulletin you need is not available online, you can:
- Use the "National Document Delivery Service System" to request document copying from the "Intellectual Property Office Document Service Group." Please first register for an account and then fill out the document photocopy request form.
Procedure for Document Copying Requests through the "National Document Delivery Service System"
- Register for an account: Connect to the "National Document Delivery Service System" and select "Reader's Area" under "Apply for an Account." After filling in the relevant fields and submitting the application form, you will receive an approval notice within three working days.
- Fill out the borrowing request form: Connect to the "National Document Delivery Service System," select "Reader's Area" under "Submit a Request." After logging in, choose "Submit a Request (Blank Form)" and select borrowing. Notes:
- Borrowing days: Different libraries offer different borrowing days and charge different fees. For details, see "Library Service Charges."
- Reference books: Most libraries do not provide borrowing services for reference books (such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, etc.). To confirm if borrowing is available, check the library catalog.
- Receive the notification and collect at the library: After submitting the photocopy request form, you will receive a document arrival notice (E-Mail) within about three to seven working days. Please collect the document at the library's 4th floor.

You can search for print journals subscribed by other libraries outside of our library to request journal document photocopying through the "National Document Delivery Service System."
